Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed profound shock over a fire incident that engulfed the lives of daughter, elder sister and a sibling of the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata.
This was made known via a statement made available to newsmen by the governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, dated Thursday July 18, 2024.
Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf described the incident as shocking and devastating as it resulted to the lost of lives of three innocent citizens of the state, and property of huge value.
“We received with shock the sad news of fire incident that led to the loss of three siblings of one of us, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata at his residence in Kofar Mata quarters within Kano metropolitan.
” It is indeed sad, heartbreaking, and unfortunate incident that will linger in our memory for a very long period of time in view of its devastating consequences.” Lamented Governor Abba Kabir.
He on behalf of the government, state executive council members, and good people of the state, we wish extended heartfelt commiseration to the Commissioner, and his families, beseech Almighty Allah to grant eternal rest to the departed souls, and prevent further occurrence of such ugly incidence in future.
The Governor led members of the state executive council and other dignitaries to the funeral rites of the deceased family members of the Higher Education Commissioner at Kofar Mata quarters in the early hours of Wednesday July 17.
