Godo Godo community lights up New Year with Peace Cup final

The final of the maiden Godo Godo Peace and Unity Soccer Cup will be played between two district teams of the chiefdom at the LEA Primary School, Atang, Kaduna State on Saturday.
Speaking to our reporter ahead of Saturday’s final match, the cup donor and sponsor of the 10 districts tournament in Godo Godo chiefdom, Mr Yohanna Habu Yangs said, the tournament was put together to add colour to the youths celebration of the New Year.
“I am profoundly delighted to see the tournament meet up its objectives of uniting the youths across the ten districts of the chiefdom and you can see they have been engaged positively and equally determined to defend their respective districts in the football battle. I am also a proud man to see the kind of raw talents provided in the course of the championship”.
The Sarkin Yakin Matasa, a traditional title holder in the chiefdom further expressed optimism that very soon, players from the chiefdom will be joining other established ones in search of greener pastures in the national leagues across the country.
He commended organisers for their commitment to seeing through the success of the event and assured of continued support of the youths.
The final match will be between Nisama District team against their counterparts from Gidan Waya after coming out of their respective semi-finals victorious.
The ten districts under the Godo Godo Chiefdom participated in the maiden tournament as encomiums to Mr Yohanna Habu Yangs continued coming from stakeholders commending him for the championship which they said has contributed to the peace and unity of the youths.
