Employment: Private Sector urged to partner Foreign Investots

The private sector operators in Nigeria have been urged to interact positively with their foreign counterparts to invest in the growth and employment generating sectors of the economy.
The Minister of State, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, speaking at the 37th Kaduna International Trade Fair, emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to the ongoing reform programs especially in trade, industry, power, agriculture and solid mineral sectors for a vibrant private sector participation and increase efficiency in the national economy.
Hajiya Aisha Abubakar also emphasized that this measures are meant to stabilize the foreign exchange rate to be addressed later when the economy improves.
“I urged the entire private sector operators in Nigeria and their partners to positively reciprocate these gestures by investing in the identified growth and employment generating sectors of the economy,” the Minister of State said.
She said that the ministry is housing a pro-poor World Bank project for employment through provision of grants to agrobusiness, manufacturing and hospitality industries besides offering technical services for support and training for firms.
She said that the Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), promotes free trade, excluding trade barriers and simplification of trade procedures.
Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai called on participants at the fair to ensure that they develop concrete partnership machineries that will support our economic growth and to make Kaduna great again under their present administration.
El-Rufai said that plans are ahead by the state for industrial park, noting that substantial amount has been spent for development of inland dry port, as origin for final destination for goods to Kaduna and Northwest zone.
He said that the government is to develop modern market in the state and approval for compensation to property owners has been granted.
Earlier, President, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), Dr. Abdul-Alimi Bello, had advised the FG to develop other sectors of the economy including manufacturing, agriculture and solid minerals cum the service sectors to strengthen the prevailing economic cord by creating an enabling environment with the right infrastructure, long term financing and the right policies.
“Nigerians are very enterprising, once the environment is right Nigerians will make things happen in a positive way.
“We also need to patronize made in Nigeria products to encourage our local manufacturers”, the president declared.
Speaking with the Director General of KADCCIMA, Alhaji Usman Saulawa commended this year Trade Fair and assured that it will bring a positive impact to every investor that will participate, the growth of business in Kaduna State and by extension the whole of Africa.
