Ganduje advocates ‘National Hadith Competition’ among Muslim
By; Buhari B. Bello, Jos.
The Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has advocated for the establishment of National Hadith Competition at the national level rather than restricting it to the state or local government Areas.
He made the call over the weekend during the closing ceremony of Sheikh Ahmad Arabi Annual Hadith Competition organised by Ittihadu Anwaril Hidayat school, held at the Jos Central Mosque.
According to the governor who was represented by the Director of Arabic and Islamic Schools in Kano, the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was very significant to the life of Muslims in the world and therefore should be valued and given adequate attention.
He suggested that the Hadith competition should no longer be limited to state but nationwide like the “Annual National Qur’anic competition”, which according to him, would encourage more participation and identify more memorizers of Hadith from nook and cranny of the country.
Speaking also at the occasion, the Chairman of the Ittihadu Anwaril Hidayat , Plateau State, Alh. Yusuf Yahaya harped on the challenges facing the school especially the welfare of staff, adding that even parents were not helping matters when it comes to the payment of school fees of mere N100 or N50 per week.
On the current challenges of the school, Yahaya urged  both the state and the Federal Government to assist the school to enable it continue with the programme efficiently, arguing that it was the burden of the government to give sound education to every pupil. He called on the parents to strengthen their effort in giving Islamic knowledge to their children.
The chairman however called on the Federal Government to consider the staff of Itthadu school among the 500,000 teachers promised to be employed this month by the FG. He said the school had many teachers who had obtained their Masters degrees and NCE but looking for Jobs.
The event saw awards and prizes presented various winners and was witnessed by people from various parts of the country.
