Two heavy duty tankers conveying Premium Motor Spirit popularly referred to as petrol, lost control and collided at Ezzamgbo Junction flyover in Ebonyi State.

The accident which occurred at the middle of Ezzagbo Flyover along Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway around 6:00pm in the evening on Sunday, made the tanker to discharge all the products inside the tank, which spilled all over the flyover and other corners of the gutters along the road.

It was gathered that one of the tankers that first climbed the flyover, was reversing  unknowingly, which made the driver to lose control and collided with another  that was behind it.

Fortunately, no life was lost as at the time of filling this report, but  petroleum products were wasted along the flyover.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Samuel Okpor, `It was only God that saved many lives and property today at Ezzamgbo Junction. One of the two tankers probably entered the fly over with wrong gear and lost strength at the middle of the fly over. As a result, it lost control of the lorry and was forced to go on reverse. As it was on reverse, another tanker was behind it and could not steer off. Consequently, the two tankers filled with petrol, collided and fell.

“What you see in this video and pictures is not water, but petrol. If not for the efforts of the State Fire Service, Road Safety, Police and other government agencies, maybe Ezzamgbo would have been in flames by now. As I recorded this video around 5pm today, the two tankers were still discharging inflammable content, but for the presence of relevant agencies, the situation is under control. Thank God for His grace.

When contacted for his reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, SP Chris Anynwu did not respond to  calls.
