It is no longer business as usual in Ondo State with the rampaging fuel scarcity that hit major towns in the state.
It could be recalled that people in the state had suffered hardship in the past few weeks as a result of persistent fuel scarcity, as they motorists pay over N200 for a litre of petrol coupled with long hours spent on queues at any filing stations in the state.
Investigation conducted by New Nigerian Newspapers revealed that out of over 50 filling stations in Akure, less than two dispense the commodity to consumers thereby causing long queues.
The development however caused untold hardship to motorists and other commercial activities across the state.
Findings showed that fuel dealers had stock but sell at night to maximize profit, while few marketers dispensed at between N160 to N180.
Prices of Taxi cabs and Motor bike operators popularly called Okadas are now sky rocketing as they charge over 100 percent increase in their fares
Many workers both in government and private sectors and market women and men found it difficult to get to their places of works.
A taxi driver, Bode Adewumi who spoke with our Correspondent urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under President Muhammadu Buhari to resolve the lingering fuel crisis.
Adewumi also urged fuel dealers in the state to stop hoarding the commodity in the over all interest of the masses
Also speaking in the same vein, a business woman around popular Adegbola junction, Mrs Rashidat Omowole appealed to the Federal and Ondo State government to find a lasting solution to the issue of fuel scarcity during the Xmas and new year festival.
