Fuel Crisis: Civil Defence Discovers Mini Black Market Depot In Kaduna

In what appears to be a major breakthrough of activities of fuel saboteurs, the men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna State Command on Sunday discovered a mini fuel black marketers depot beside the NNPC mega station located in Mando road, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.
According to the Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu, the command acted on intelligence report of such activities of black marketers operating within the station and made a major arrest of some suspects and products stocked in various sizes of jericans and drums and constructed tanks.
Some of the items recovered include nine numbers of 200litres drums of PMS, 1,100 litres drum of PMS, nine numbers of 50 litres jerricans of PMS,  18 empty motor cycles tank, nine vehicles, 13 empty generator tanks, seven numbers of 70litres of PMS and seven motorcycles.
Two suspects were equally apprehended while several others took to their heels into a near by bush.
Also apprehended for questioning is the supervisor of the NNPC mega filling station who gave his name as Usman Tanko.
According to the State Commandant, ” we got an intelligence information that beside this NNPC mega filling station, there is a mini black market depot, so I waited till weekend when they thought there is no work to strike.
” I deployed armed personnel in tbree hilux vehicles for the operation and you can see the success with the discovery.
“It is unfortunate that this NNPC mega filling station gets two trucks of PMD almost on a daily basis and at times before 2pm the fuel according to them is finished. We have also apprehended the supervisor of the filling station for questioning. The activities of this black marketers is simply an economic sabotage and we will not treat this with levity” he said.
Meanwhile, the station supervisor confirmed knowledge of the activities of the black marketers but stressed that they don’t get the fuel from their filling station, adding that the black marketers operate on the land owned by the army.
He further informed that the management of the NNPC mega station had reported the black marketers to the military authority but no action was taken as the boys had continued their black market fuel sale unabated, he said.
