Four suspects are now in police net in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital for allegedly raping an 11 year-old secondary school student.
New Nigerian gathered that the 11year old girl was allegedly raped by the four men while hawking detergent for her mother on Saturday around NNPC, Apata area of Ibadan,
It was learnt that trouble started for the girl while she was hacking alone in the area after her brother had gone to collect some money from a customer on the other street during which two men on commercial motorcycle reportedly approached her that they wanted to buy three pieces of the product and that they would be offering her N200 while each sachet of the detergent cost N50.
Sources said after delivering the product to the suspects, one of them offered the 11year old girl N500 with the girl telling them that she did not have change after which, she asked told to come with them to a location to collect her money.
The girl was said to have turned down the request but was allegedly held forcefully and dragged to an uncompleted building where two other men were waiting for them where she was allegedly raped by the four men repeatedly.
The girl later reported to her mother who later headed for the nearby police station and the subsequent arrest of the suspects as they were identified by the girl.
Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer SP Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the arrest of the suspects and that investigation is on going.
SP Ajisebutu declared that the suspects would be charged to court if found guilty as the Oyo state Commissioner of Police in has directed that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation.
“The case was reported by the mother of the victim. Because of the seriousness of the crime, the state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, had directed that the case should be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the command for thorough investigation” he said.
