Foremost Industrialist, Apostle Danilux Emerges Chairman MAN Apapa Branch



A foremost industrialist and philanthropist, Apostle Raphael Danilola (Danilux) has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of Apapa Branch of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) at its 52nd Annual General Meeting, held in Lagos today,  August  8, 2023.

Theme, “Financing Nigeria’s Manufacturing Sector for Economic Growth”, the Meeting, which was well attended by captains of industries, manufacturers, directors, management staff of the organized private sector amongst others from Apapa branch of MAN, also had in attendance the Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu ably represented by the permanent secretary Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives Mrs Adetutu Ososanya, the national President of MAN Otunba Francis Meshioye who joined via zoom, current Vice President MAN Lagos zone Prince Felix Oba Okojie, immediate past Vice President of MAN Lagos zone Mr. John Aluya, Director General of MAN Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir who was ably represented, Mr Olukayode A. Pitan MD/CEO Bank of Industry (BOI) represented by Dr. Isah Omagu GM large enterprise BOI, Mrs Adetola Mosaku who represented the GM of LASEPA Dr Dolapo Fasawe, Mr. Adeoye Babajide of the Lagos State Ministry of environment, outgoing Chairman of the branch Engr. Frank Ike Onyebu and members of his council, the executive secretary of MAN Apapa branch and his staff, the media etc.

Mr. Olukayode A. Pitan MD/CEO of BOI, the guest lecturer at the AGM represented by Dr. Omagu spoke extensively on the topic: Financing Options for Competitiveness of Nigeria Manufacturers under AFCFCTA.

He harped on the financing diffulties faced by manufacturers to include infrastructural deficit, multiple taxation, lack of trained manpower and managerial skills, high interest rates, soaring inflation, increased exposure to high cost of doing business, etc.

Pitan pointed out that with regards to AFCFCTA,  Nigeria is lagging behind but is trying so hard to pull it’s weight, having joined late, explaining that AFCFCTA aims at minimizing delays at borders, eliminating tariffs by about 90%, etc. 

On the involvement of BOI, he explained that is is wired to provide not only financial support to manufactures at a single digit over a long term tenor, unlike commercial banks but also involved in advocacy on technical support and innovative ways of doing business for manufacturers. 

The BOI Boss called for more engagements and collaboration between BOI and manufacturers in order to grow the Nigeria economy in terms of productivity and creation of wealth and employment.

The highlight of the event was the election of Apostle Raphael Danilola (Danilux) as the chairman of the branch in a free and fair election.

 Members unanimously entrusted in his leadership, the affairs of the association for the next four years. 

Also elected with the new chairman were the Vice chairman, treasurer and other council members who were all sworn in with the new chairman.

In his welcome address/acceptance speech, Apostle Raphael Danilola (Danilux) appreciated members for unanimously electing him and promised not to let the association down in taking the association to greater heights.

He paid glowing tributes to his predecessor for a job well done and for raising the bar with his leadership quality which has changed the fortunes of the association for the better.

The new chairman called for the support of the outgone leadership and members to collectively take Apapa branch of MAN to a higher level for the collective good of all.
