The Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Alh ( Dr. ) Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi has flagged-off Oral Cholera Vaccination at Baranda in Dutse Local Government Council with a call on the community to imbibe the spirit of medical care through regular visitation to the medical facility in their domain, as well as ensuring cleaning of their environment.
“As you are aware, cholera manifests from filth and untidy environment, as such, I urge you to keep your surroundings clean for good health and conducive environment for healthy living.” He said.
Similarly, he urged them to embrace essential vaccination for effective living for control and prevention of Cholera among other deadly diseases.
Earlier, Muhammad Mohammed an Executive Director from National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA), Abuja commended Jigawa State Government for its support and patronage on the activities of NPHDA in the state at all times, and called on the community to ensure all their wards take all the necessary vaccinations for effective living.
Also speaking, WHO representative, Dr. Tana advised officials of PHCDA Jigawa State to be proactive in the administration of all the available medication and vaccination in almost all the health facilities in the state.
He also called for synergy amongst it and other related donors in rendering effective health for all.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim stated that the state has recorded over 4,000 cases of Cholera with five hundred dead within the last four months, assuring that with the available vaccination and medication, they are on the verge of eliminating the scourge.
Dr Ibrahim further stated that they are targeting at least 12,000 communities, assuring that emphasis will be concentrated on three worst hit LGAs, namely Dutse, Birnin Kudu, and Hadejia where medical experts alongside medication and vaccination were dispatched.
