Five hospitals have been shut down by the Ogun State Government in Ijebu Ode area of the State.
This New Nigerian gathered was owing to their non compliance with the re-validation/registration exercise carried out by Government for all private health facilities across the State recently.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, who led the Monitoring Team in the department of Hospital Services to ascertain the level of compliance to the exercise at Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the State, said there would be no room for quacks to operate in the State as their activities have done more harm than good.
He said so many lives have been lost to the activities of quack Doctors and Nurses in the state, adding that with the new strategy being adopted by the State Ministry of Health, the days of quacks in the health sector were numbered.
While ordering the closure of Mayflower Clinic, Oga Yem Merciful Care and Glorious King’s Eye Clinic, all in Ijebu Ode Local Government, Dr. Aigoro asked the owners to come to the Ministry with all relevant documents to convince the Ministry of the legitimacy of their operations in the State.
Dr. Aigoro emphasized that the State would no longer be conducive for persons who disguise as professional medical practitioners to endanger lives and swindle innocent people in the society.
According to him, the state has taken a good step under the provisions of the Private Hospitals and other Health Establishments Registration Edict of 1988.
