Fintiri Flags Off Social Support Programme For Women, Youth

 Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has  flagged off  empowerment programme for  women and yourh across the state.

The initiative which is a fulfilment of  Fintiri’s campaign  promises tagged Adamawa State Social Support Program (ADSSP) was organised by Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation And Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA).

The ADSSP  aims at training 10,520 women and youth on various skills while assisting them with stipends.

Speaking at the flag off, the governor said the Primary objective of ADSSP is to promote economic empowerment and built capacity of youth and women inorder to  eradicating poverty and improve living standard of the people across Adamawa.

According to him, government is making critical Investment in human capital development to support vulnerable citizens and lift a sizable proportion of people out of poverty and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the training funds judiciously.

In her remarks, the Head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello praised Fintiri’s commitment towards reducing poverty rate in the state from 74.5 per cent to zero level.

Bello announced that Governor Fintiri has approved reopening of five out of the 10 vocational skills aquisition centres in Adamawa established by the Nyako-led administration.

The Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Iya James said the programme is the first phase and rated the governor high for prioritizing economic, political and sociocultural development in the state.

Dahiru Mahmud a beneficiary from Fufore LGA thanked Governor  Fintiri for the empowerment programme and promised to use the training and funds judiciously for the purpose intended.
