Katsina Government has withdrawn a Case of financial misappropriation of eleven billion Naira instituted before State High Court of Justice against the former Governor of the State Ibrahim Shehu Shehu Shema.

The funds were said to  have been misappropriated from the coffers of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state while Shema was Governor.

The former governor was facing another Case of misappropriated five-point-seven billion Naira SURE-P Funds instituted against him by the EFFC.

Giving reason for the withdrawal of the case, the Director of Public Prosecution Katsina State Ministry of Justice, Abdurrahman Umar said the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice exercised the powers vested on her by Section two of sub-section eleven of the 1999 Constitution as amended to discontinue the case.

In view of that the two defendants in the case, former Governor Ibrahim Shema as well as Lawal Dankaba were discharged from all charges against them.

It would be recalled that the state government in 2016, filed the case against Shema and one other.
