Final Year Civil Engineering student murdered in Imo

The Police in Owerri, Imo State capital, Wednesday arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a final year Civil Engineering student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, near Owerri.
Parading the three suspects before journalists, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu said that the suspects were arrested following a report of the murder made to the Police information control room.
He said the public display of his phone number and that of the high ranking Police officers help the command in checking crime in the state, pointing out that on assumption of duty as the State Commissioner of Police, he directed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Department and other high ranking Police officers in the State to disseminate their phone numbers to the public for effective communication and intelligence gathering.
According to him, “this initiative is yielding positive results and has assisted the police in clamping down on suspected assassins.”
The Police boss told journalists that the command has however recorded major breakthrough in its renewed efforts against crime and criminality in the state.
He explained that on Tuesday November 17, 2015, following a report of the murder of one Innocent Ndukwe, a 25 year old Final year Civil Engineering student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, the operatives of the command went into action and arrested the three suspects.
He said further that the deceased was murdered and found in a pool of his own blood in a toilet at his residence at No. 18 Enuwa Street, Egbu Owerri.
He gave the names of the suspects as David Kwaguru, Friday Ayuba, and Francis Amos all of Plateau State origin.
The Police chief said that the assailants after murdering their victim made away with his pathfinder, SUV Jeep with Registered No. KRD-109-BP, 2 plasma TV sets and one home theatre and assorted personal effects.
The Commissioner used the opportunity to caution employers of security guards against employing anybody without proper screening.
