FG will release budget on project by project base – Minister

The Federal Government will release the 2016 budget to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on project by project base with 29 per cent of the budget going to capital expenditure.
The Minister of State, Budget and National Planning Zainab Ahmed Shamsuna made this disclosure in Kaduna during the North West Town Hall Meeting, organised by the Federal Ministry of Information abd Culture.
Shamsuna said most borrowings would also be expended on capital projects just as the Ministry has designed short, medium and long time plans, programmes and project in the lifespan of the current administration.
She also revealed that the 34 priority projects announced by the Federal Government is sub-divided into nine such as Policy and Governance, sustain fight against insurgency, fighting corruption within the ambit of the rules of law, food self sufficiency, diversification of the economy among others.
She also revealed that 82.5 megawatt is to be generated from the Dadin Kowa Dam and mass irrigation system. Private sector involvement in tourism and entertainment, social intervention programmes, ease of doing business to attract direct foreign investment are also in the pipeline she assured.
The Minister assured that 5,000 primary health care centres (PHCs) would be established in 5,000 wards across the nation.
