Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Professor Claudius Omoleye Daramola on Friday said that Federal Government will empower youth in Niger Delta areas.
Professor Daramola stated this while addressing a batch of trainees comprising young men and women drawn from some states in the South-South geo-political zone at the end of a month-long Fish Production Empowerment Training in Ibadan.
The Minister pointed out that in doing this, Federal government was determined to provide substantial take off grants to the youth after completing the training.
“President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has resolved to stop at nothing in its determination to ensure that the youth from the zone are effectively empowered to enable them contribute positively to national economic development”he said.
According to Professor Daramola, there will be no going back in the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration determination to ensure that the youth from the zone are effectively empowered to enable them contribute positively to national economic development.
The Minister however charged the youths to use the skill acquired from the empowerment training programme in establishing their own outfit and become employers of labour, saying,“on your successful completion of this month-long Fish Production Empowerment Training, I charge you all to go back to your respective Local Government Areas and use the skill already acquired in establishing your own outfits and become employers of labour”.
“You should make good use of the golden opportunities that have come your way through the Presidency. You should take notice that you will be further empowered once you kickstart the establishment of your own outfits following this training. The emphasis is establishment. So, please, go back to your base and set up your own enterprise immediately and the Government would further intervene in providing you with the desired take-off grant.”
The training consultant and Chief Executive of Siegener Sabithos College of Business Management and Information Technology, Dr. Tunde Anifowose-Kelani said during the training, the youths were exposed to the modalities of Catfish and Tilapia Fish Production including hatchery, breeding as well as the marketing aspects.
