FG reiterates support to NMS Zaria

The Federal Government has reiterated its determinations towards supporting the development of the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria for the younger generations to have a very good training as future leaders.
 
Secretary to the Federal Government Engineer Babachir David Lawal stated this at the 58th Speech and price giving day ceremony of the NMS held at the Ogundeko Hall.
 
Represented by Ambassador Olu Kunle Bamboshe, he said government would continue to support any laudable initiative by any institution towards enhancing and improving the nation future leaders.
 
According to him, the efforts of Nigerian Army for ensuring that NMS maintain the unique role and academic excellent of being the best channel where future leaders are groomed is highly commendable.
 
Engineer Babachir urged the management of NMS to continue and maintained the objectives for which the school was set up for by the founding fathers.
 
On the outgoing Boys, Babachir urged them to make discipline, hardwork, commitment in whatever they choose to be in future to enable them have a good carrier.
 
Earlier in his address, the Commandant of the School, Brigadier General Muktar M. Bunza said, the students performance in WAEC & NECO  examinations were outstanding which menifested in the just concluded UTME where all the students scored above the 180 cut off points for admission into NDA and Nigerian Universities.
 
On discipline, he stressed that the standard of discipline initiated in NMS is still being sustained among the Boys and along side the staff, which is highly commendable as there is no room for both Boys and Staff to be recalcitrant.
 
While speaking on the the challenges facing the school, General Bunza said they are facing serious challenges of accommodation of its personnel and insufficient number of accommodation as the few ones are weak and dilapidated due to ageing.
 
According to him, NMS is in dire need of additional residential accommodation for its officers in order to cater for their accommodation needs.
 
The Commandant also stated that the NMS has continued to perform its statutorily roles in moulding into the Boys characters that ensure discipline, knowledge and patriotism.
 
“Nigerian Military School as an institution has created a niche for itself not only within the the Armed Forces but the nation as whole, while the products of the school have excelled in various endeavors and have also been contributing positively to the development of Nigeria”.
 
“The institution is rated among the best schools in the country especially interms of discipline, academics and leadership training, the school academic cum leadership programmes have been designed to provide a holistic development of the Boys with deliberate efforts to internalised national values into them” he stressed.
