FG Disburses Over 300,000 Tonnes Of Grains To Flood Victim’s Nationwide

Disturbed by escalation scope of flood menace in states in the federation, the Federal Government through the National Emergency Relief Management Agency (NEMA) has disbursed large consignments of metric tonnes of assorted foodstuff in various varieties as succor to flood affected victims across the federation.

The Director- General of NEMA, Alh Mustapha Habib Ahmed  disclosed this while speaking at the office of Jigawa State Deputy Governor,  Alh. Umar Namadi while on  a working visit to the state.

 ” Once again, we’re here in Jigawa State in consideration of the escalation of flood menace to commiserate with the people and government of the state over the unfortunate   incident.

“Also we are here to hand over additional assorted food and non food relief items to the state government to give immediate succour to affected persons to enable them live in a dignified manner during this difficult moment. 

“We also intend to visit some of the disaster sites for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation to enable governments at all levels to design a long term recovering planning strategy amongst other partners in controlling the menace.

Responding, the Deputy Governor, Alh.  Namadi commended the federal government for the gesture and assured of equity while sharing the relief items to the rightful persons.

“Most of our people have lost their houses, property and other domestic utensils to flooding. With this Federal Government interventions, I am sure the trauma our people are passing through will be minimised,” he said.

Least amongst the disbursed relief materials included, 15,625 10kg of rice, beans (14,400 bags), 12,520 bags of Maize, 7,750 bags of cement,  large consignments of roofing sheets, men and children’s wears in large consignments, among other items, with thousands  of households displaced benefitting.
