Members of the Sisters Forum of Islamic movement in Nigeria (SFIMN) yesterday embarked on road work within the Kaduna Central Market in protest to make further demand of unconditional release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been in the custody of security agents for over 50days.
Addressing newsmen, Leader of the group, Lubabatu Alhassan called on well meaning Nigerians to join them to stand ‎against the act of misuse of power and authority against unarmed citizens by the government.
“The indiscriminate and extra-judicial ‎killing of unarmed civilians by the Army, called for widespread condemnation from within and outside Nigeria and a call for in-depth investigation into the worse crime against humanity ever in the history of the country.
“As a result of this senseless and inhuman act perpetrated by the state using the Nigerian Army, hundreds of children have been turned into orphans and many other women into widows.
“‎Since the pogrom, Nigerian government and the Army have embarked on propaganda including the use of sectarian sentiments to induce phobia against the Islamic Movement and its members to cover-up for and also justify its crime against humanity.” She said.
The women group also accused the Kaduna State Government of ‎joining forces with the Army in demolishing their center and the residence of their leader both in Zaria in an attempt to clear up all evidences left behind by the Army.
‎They vowed not to be part of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry established by the state government until their leader is released unconditionally.
“The Judicial Commission of Inquiry‎ could only better be described as a commission of indictment, where carefully selected arch-enemies of the Movement, and core sectarians were sworn-in to investigate the incident along some selected points of reference that are inconsiderate of the brutal and indiscriminate killings of our brothers and sisters”.
