Federation Cup; Lobi Stars apologises to Governor Ortom
 By; Ayo Ojedokun, Lagos.
Management and players of Lobi Stars Football Club of Markurdi has apologized to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for their inability to win the 2015 Federation Cup.
Lobi Stars last Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium lost by 1-2 to Akwa United in the finals of this year’s Federation Cup.
General Manager of the Club, Barnabas Imenger said that the apology became necessary considering the huge financial investment made by the Governor on the club since assumption of office about six months ago.
According to him, the club has no business that day than to win the trophy to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture but unfortunately they played with a depleted side which affected the fortune of the team.
“We are very disappointed that we lost the Federation Cup finals to Akwa United, a team which we have no reason losing to.
“The Governor on the eve of the Federation Cup finals bought three brand new buses for the club and released money for the settlement of all salaries, allowances and sign-on fees and winning the trophy would have been a way to thank him for the support.
“The truth of the matter was that we played with a depleted side. Four of our key players were match rusty and playing a match for the first time in four months. Players like Felix Osia, Barnabas Imenger who is a member of CHAN Eagles and Uche Iloh were all playing matches for the first time in four months which affected our game plan.
“We knew we had a good team, prayed and fasted with my Christian brethren but unfortunately we couldn’t make it”, lamented the ex- international.
Imenger appealed to the Governor not to lose hope in the club, promising that Lobi Stars is poised to bring more glory to the state to justify the huge amount of money invested in the club by the State Government.
