Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated Muslims in the state and in Nigeria on the commencement of the Ramadan fasting period.
Dr. Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, described Ramadan as “the glory of all months in the Islamic calendar”, adding that Ramadan fast is one of the five pillars of Islam that Muslims must strictly adhere to in line with the injunction of the Almighty Allah.
The Governor noted that Ramadan offers an opportunity to draw closer to Allah and deepen relationship with him. He therefore urged Muslims to use the period to pray for peace to reign in all the troubled spots in the country and in nations of the world.
He also urged them to use the Ramadan season to pray for peace and prosperity in Ekiti State, especially the forth coming governorship election in the state. He said through prayer and cooperation of the people, the state would witness a peaceful election and smooth transition of power to the eventual winner.
Dr Fayemi prayed that the holy month will usher in abundant grace and blessings for the faithful.
“We all must be grateful to Allah for being alive to witness another Ramadan season. I urge my Muslim brothers and sisters to use the opportunity of the Ramadan period to pray and seek the face of Allah for peace, progress and prosperity of our dear country.
“We should always seek divine intervention for our nation and the Ramadan season provides such a unique opportunity to collectively seek the face of Allah through prayer. May Allah accept our prayers and may the holy month usher in abundant blessings for the faithful and restore peace and prosperity to our dear country”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Southern Senators Forum, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has rejoiced with Muslim Ummahs in Ekiti State and Nigeria on the commencement of the 2022 Ramadan fast.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, reminded Muslims that their prayers are required to bail the country out of senseless carnages shaking the country’s foundation at this time.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, said this in a statement, on Saturday, felicitating the Muslims on the commencement of the 30-day holy fasting and prayers by adherents.
Bamidele appealed to Muslims to be circumspect of the parlous economic, political and social states of the country and endeavour to offer prayer supplications that could bring swift spiritual interventions, to cleanse the bloods of innocent being shed on daily basis.
The federal lawmaker urged the Muslim Ummahs to deploy the 30 -day of holiness to have a rethink about how to make Nigeria better in all facets, particularly overcoming the challenges of bloodshed, corruption, cybercrime, ritual killings , economic deprivation and despondency that have taken over the land.
“As I congratulate all the Muslims in Ekiti State and Nigeria, let us remind ourselves that what we are experiencing in Nigeria today calls for sober reflection in view of the present predicament we are in.
“On daily basis, we hear of carnage and killing of innocent souls. Economic hardship had taken away happiness from our people. It is an open fact that we need spiritual rebirth and this Ramadan offers opportunity to usher in a new chapter in our national life for peace, progress and and enjoy life full of abundance”.
Bamidele told the Muslim brothers  to allow the preaching of Prophet Mohammed(SWT) about Ramadan reflects in their lives, for their prayers to be fruitful and fervent before Allah.
“Ramadan teaches holiness, sacrifices, peace, joy, love and togetherness regardless of religion, political affiliations and ethnicity and all these must be brought to bear in all our dealings and comportment.
“I felicitate our Muslim brothers on the beginning of this  spiritual and holy month and I pray God grants  them the wherewithal to fulfil all that are required for rapid reformation of their individual lives and the nation at large”, Bamidele said.
