Men Accused Of Raping Two Girls In Ebonyi

Two elderly men between the ages of 55 and 49 Years has been accused of sexual assault and rape of a nine years old girls in Ebonyi State.
According to the  mother of the first victim, Mrs.Agness  Opoke from Okofia, Ezza South Local Government area of Ebonyi State,  the incident occured last Sunday when she sent her nine years old daughter on an errand to bring her phone but on her way, one of  their neighbors whose name was given as Sunday Okah allegedly  dragged her into his room and started fingering her private part from where he raped her.
Mrs.Ofoke stated that she got to know about it on Tuesday this week and quickly took her to the man’s house but he denied doing such a thing.
“I told my little daughter to go and bring my phone, and on her way going ,a neighbor called her to come but she told him she was on errand but the man insisted and draged her into his house and inserted his finger into her private part.
“I got to know about it on Tuesday this week.When we took her to the man’s house,he stated that he did not do such a thing .It was our community people that said we should take her to lab. He refused to follow us to the hospital.”
She lamented that the man has been angry with them because they reported the incident to their pastor, adding that Mr. Okah should be within the age range of 42 years.
Similarly, one Mr. Christopher Egwu from Amaelu, Amaechi in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State equally reported  a similar incident where a 55 years old man, Azubuike Isu who is living in the same village lured her 9 years old daughter to his house to be massaging his penis and later inserted it in her daughters mouth to be sucking.
Mr. Egwu stated that he wasn’t in the village when the incident occurred, it was his younger sister  called his attention to the issue, adding that the same man has been accused of the same offence before, but nothing was done about it.
“It was my younger sister that called and told me that a man living in their compound took my daughter to his house and told her to be massaging her penis and as she was doing that, he now put his penis in her mouth to suck.
“My daughter is 9 years old, she is in primary 4.
“After this thing happened, my sister said he could no longer endure it, because the same man has done that same thing before.”
He further explained that he has reported the matter to the villagers who advised him to take his daughter to the hospital to truly ascertain what happened.
Mr. Egwu however, called on  the government to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
Commenting on the allegations, the  Coordinator of Gender Based Violence Taxforce in Ebonyi State, Barr. (Mrs.) Faithvin Nwanchor stated that the parents of the victims called her attention on the sexual assault netted on two young girls on March 24, 2022,  but she told them to bring the children to Gender Based Violence clinic where they normally examine the true situation of their medical condition.
According to Nwanchor, the first incident happened at Ezza South while the second one is from Afikpo North, saying that her office quickly responded by going with team of police officers to arrest the culprits.
She  noted that the victims are undergoing medical examination to unravel what actually transpired.
She also stated that the suspects are between the ages of 55 and 49 years old.
She maintained that the doctor and a psychologist after medical examination, will determine the damages and equally counsel, as well as prescribe drugs for them.
She called on parents to wake up to their responsibilities by knowing and questioning the movement and activities of their children regularly to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),  Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Loveth Odah said that she will get  in touch with the DPO in charge of the area since it has not been reported to her office.
“I am not aware, but I will enquire from the DPO,” she said.
