Nigeria’s D’Tigers player, Victor Eze scored 22 points for Kwara Falcons but couldn’t stop the team from losing its third consecutive game at the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference in Dakar, Senegal.

Kwara Falcons showed resilience on Wednesday, but the Nigerian champions were unable to beat the reigning champions, US Monastir.

The Nigeria champions led for most of the contest, but lost during the last quarter of the game with the final score 85-75 in favour of US Monastir of Tunisia.

With this result, it becomes increasingly difficult for the Nigerian team to qualify for the playoff finals in Kigali in May, 2023.

Notwithstanding, Ezeh explained: “Nothing really went wrong with Kwara Falcons. The thing that happened was that they started hitting those shots. They moved the ball well enough. We need to do better.

“We are more confident. Now we see how well we can play. It wasn’t the result that we wanted, but we are still optimistic about the next few games.”

In the other game played same night, the home team, AS Douanes of Senegal lost their second consecutive game to REG of Rwanda who registered their third consecutive wins to become the first team to qualify for the playoff finals on their home ground. The game ended REG 69, AS Douanes 55.

Kwara Falcons  next play AS Douanes on Saturday, May 18.
