Vice President of Ndigbo in diaspora and the Eze Ndigbo Nala Ibadan and Oyo State, Dr. Alex Anozie has declared that Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan was not to challenge the power, authority and supremacy of Olubadan of Ibadanland over all citizen whether Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa living in Ibadan and environs”
Eze Anozie stated this at a press conference in Ibadan through his Counsel Barrister Samuel Onwukwe saying “the title Eze Ndigbo, simply means the leader of Igbo in a particular area”.
The Eze emphasized the need for strict adherence to the rule of law in the country to prevent anarchy, emphasizing that “the Igbos are in unity and will not allow the masquerade to disrupt their peace”.
Dr Anozie who was reacting to a statement credited to a group on the leadership of Igbo in Ibadan and Oyo State, cautioned that any deviation from compliance with the rule of law was an invitation to anarchy which no one prays for.
The Eze Ndigbo while faulting the said statement that the Olubadan -In -Council directed him to stop claiming to be the Head of Ndigbo in Ibadan land and Oyo State which he said members of Olubadan-in-Council were ignorant of that statement, maintained that “Eze Dr Alex Anozie and our group have always had a very cordial relationship with Olubadan and his Council as we have always been officially invited to every occasion taking place in the palace.
“Let the public ignore the write up from the group that does not believe in the rule of law. We all should join hands to build Nigeria, not to destroy. We all, including the Press, should stand by the truth and nothing but the truth” he said.
Dr Anozie then urged those behind the said statement asking him  to stop his title to wait until after the verdict of Court of Appeal on the matter, saying, that they lost in the Court could not be got through propaganda.
