The Ayedero of Yorubaland, Hon Shina Peller on Monday, called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, to start the New Year with the spirit of positivity.

Hon Shina Peller in his New Year message, said Nigerians should hope for the best notwithstanding challenges being experienced in the country

The Ayedero of Yorubaland said  that for Nigerians to coexist peacefully, there is need for all to appreciate, tolerate and love one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation.

He emphasized that, “Leadership is about taking responsibility even when we make mistakes. However, one of the numerous problems we are confronted with especially in Nigeria is our failure to take responsibility for our actions, particularly when we err. To err is human; giving unreasonable excuses for our mistakes instead of admitting and correcting them is what we should do away with this year.”

According to him, “The nonchalant attitude of not taking responsibility happens virtually in all tiers of government, private and public organizations and even at our various homes. So, it is not just about people in government; it’s about everyone of us.

” To achieve a Nigeria of our dream, we all must learn to take responsibility for our actions and correct them where and when necessary. This is my message to us all this new year”, he said.

Hon Peller added, ” I congratulate everyone of us that made it to 2024. May we witness many more years with good health. Amen. Every new year presents to us an opportunity to reflect deeply on our actions and inactions in the preceding year for the purpose of doing better in the new year; so, 2024 shouldn’t be an exception, we must strive to be better in everything we do or say this year.

“Importantly, we must start the new year with the spirit of positivity in everything with firm belief that everything will be fine at the end, no matter how tough the situation may seem. We must be driven by good deeds as commanded by God, our creator and make positive impact in the lives of others”

Tasking Nigerians to embrace good deeds and make positive impact in other people’s lives, the former federal lawmaker congratulated everyone for conquering 2023 and witnessing the beginning of 2024.

The Ayedero of Yorubaland advised all to reflect deeply on their actions and inactions in the preceding year with a view to leveraging the lessons learnt to do better in 2024.

“As we make our new year resolutions, let’s appreciate, tolerate and love one another so that we can coexist peacefully together irrespective of our ethnicity, religion and political affiliation.

“We should show good leadership starting from our immediate environment regardless of our status. Strive to contribute our own quota individually in order to make the world a better place.”
