Emulate Sir Ahmadu Bello to make Northern Nigeria great – Mamman Nasir, Adamu Fika, Alfa Wali

Prominent elder statesmen who worked closely with late Premier of defunct Northern Region Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto have called on the current crop of Northern leaders to emulate the leadership of the late Premier if they want to make the region great again.
Former and the first Minister of Justice of region, Justice Mamman Nasir, former Head of Serviec of the federation, Alhaji Adamu Fika and former Assistant Secretray in the Premier’s office Alhaji Alfa Wali all made this call as discussants during the panel discussion Saturday to mark the ceremony of the 50th anniversary of Sardauna’s demised organized by legacy organizations of Sir Ahmadu Bello held in Kaduna.
They said Sir Ahmadu Bello never thought of himself as an individual but was always thinking of his people and the region before taken any decision. As a result, they said he was dedicated to the welfare of the region and the people, making sacrifices that led to him paying with his life.
The theme of the anniversary ” The North: 50 years after Sir Ahmadu Bello,” with the panel discussion on the topic “Sir Ahmadu Bello: The man, His Vision and the Imperatives of Good Governance, had in attendance who is who in the north from diverse background.
According to the elderstatesmen, before Sardauna was assassinated in the 1966 coup, he left behind one united North and people with the passion to develop, grow and serve as a rallying point for the nation.
“Alhamdullillah, he did so many things as a leader, Alhamdulillah he led this region greatly. They left behind one north, one people and one country.
“They worked towards making Nigeria great with one people and one nation. Sir Ahmadu Bello never thought of himself as an individual but always thinking about his people,” Nasir said.
They also recalled how Sir Ahmadu Bello mentored many younger people, worked with them and never treat anyone differently. They said he took all under his wing irrespective of tribe, religion or political differences.
The panel discussion was moderated by Justice Salihu Modibbo Alfa Belgore, former Chief Chief Justice of Nigeria.
