Communities in Bauchi State have been urged to consider and elect politicians that are technically sound with a high level integrity that can add value to their lives.
The advice was given by a renowned philanthropist, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka in Bauchi when a community of Yakanaji  from Toro Local Government of the state  paid her a thank you visit over the  activities of her Foundation  in that area.

Hajiya Wanka said that it only by electing people of integrity that dividends of democracy can be felt by electorates, stressing that “so long as we keep electing bad politicians because of the little they give to electorates during campaigns, no development can come to them, because such politicians consider politics as investment in   business that must recoup and profit made and not service to the people”.

The philanthropist, who is also the granddaughter of the first prime minister of Nigeria, Late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said she had grown up in a household where service to humanity is next to act of worship.

“We were taught from tender age the importance of serving community and so, for me, service to communities especially, those that are less privileged,  is a way of life. This is one of the reasons why I initiated the Hajara Wanka Foundation as a way of contributing my widow’s mite towards enhancing the quality of lives of our people”.

While thanking the people for the visit, Wanka urged  them and Nigerians generally to always strive in bringing development to their respective communities collectively because, according to her , “There is always power in numbers, what you can achieve collectively as a community is far greater than what you seek for, individually”.

Hajara expressed her resolve to always do the best she can at all times pointing out that “ God has a way of rewarding unsolicited service to humanity in so many ways that is not visible to human beings”.

Earlier speaking, leader of the delegation, Mallam Sale Idris Yakanaji said they were delegated by their community to come and extend their gratitude for what “The Hajara Wanka Foundation” is doing in their community.

“We have come here on behalf of our community to express our gratitude and say thank you for what your Foundation is doing by way of providing social amenities and creating awareness towards behavioral change that has catapulted our community to become enlightened and demand for service from our representatives”.
