By; OJO SHOLA Kaduna.
As 2,450 Corps Members deployed to Kaduna State wound up the 21-day orientation course, the state Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-rufai had warned Ministries, Departments and Parastatals not to reject Corps Members posted to them.
The governor further added that his government would view with seriousness any reported case of rejection of Corps Members who have just begun their primary assignment across the state, saying rejecting them by MDAs is against the policy of the state.
El-rufai made the call while declaring close the 2015 batch ‘B’ (stream I) National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation course at the permanent orientation camp, Kilometer 16, Kaduna-Abuja express way, Kaduna, adding that a sustainable economic development can only be built on a sound educational foundation, which is why highest percentage of them will be posted to the education sector.
Represented by the State’s Commissioner of Sport, Youth and Culture, Daniel Dan’auta, El-rufai promised Corps Members enabling environment for them to discharge their responsibilities, just as he called on good people of the state to assist the federal government to continue promoting national unity and integration which is the main objective of NYSC.
“I am fully aware that the major challenge of Corps Members after the orientation course is rejection by prospective employers.
“To this end, I wish to use this medium to remind MDAs of government in the state not to reject Corps Members posted to them because it is against the state government policy,” the governor warned.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Muhammed Momoh, advised Corps Members to adapt quickly when they arrived in their host communities and do their best to appreciate and respect the host communities customs and tradition in order for them to have itch free service experience.
He thanked the government and people of the state for what he called unquantifiable support the scheme has enjoyed over the years.
2,450 out of 2,500 earlier deployed to the state registered at the camp and participated in camp activities for the past 21 days.
