EL-Rufai pays surprise visit to NNN, decries neglect of facilities

 Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai Friday afternoon paid a surprise visit to the New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN) and decried the neglect of the company, facilities and structures.

El-Rufai who went round the eleven storey building Nagwamatse House, two storey building Imam House and the NNN head office said no private investor would put such gigantic structures in place and allow it to decay as the structures now are.

The Governor  said he came to see things first hand for him to be a better position to brief his colleague Governors when the nineteen Northern State Governors meet in about a month.

He assured that the current set of Northern Governors have resolved to do all they can to ensure that the legacies of Sir Ahmadu Bello are revived, make self sustaining and benefit the teeming populace for whom interest the legacies were established and they too are elected to serve.

The Governor was received at the company premises by the Managing Director, Alhaji Tukur Abdulrahman.

The New Nigerian was established by Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna Sokoto on 1st January, 1966, a week before his assassination on 15th January, 1966. The company was taken over by the federal government under the military regime of Generals Murtala ramat Muhammed/ Olusegun Obasanjo and also handed back to the Northern States in 2006 under the civilian regime of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
