Governor Nasir Ahmad El-rufai of Kaduna State has expressed concern that the awareness of the benefit of the Contributory Pension Scheme introduced years ago by the federal government is overwhelmingly very low among majority of civil servants in the state.
Speaking through the Secretary to the State government, Alhaji Abbas Lawal, at the flag-off ceremony of the sensitization programme on the contributory pension scheme in Kaduna Friday, Governor El-rufai said, “It was based on this premise that the present administration deemed it fit to approve a sensitization programme on the contributory pension scheme by the Pension Fund Administrators for all categories of civil servants in the state.
“I have no doubt that this effort would mobilize the public servants particularly, the pensioners and prospective pensioners to understand, appreciate and support the scheme towards actualizing the purpose for which it was established.
“Let us use this opportunity to reiterate government’s unflinching commitments towards ensuring the wellbeing of public servants.”
He commended the organizers for all the efforts that they have put in place to ensure the success of the programme, stressing, “It is my firmed believe that the pension administrators will conduct the sensitization by sharing their knowledge with the participants towards proper understanding of the scheme.
“I also hope that you would proffer recommendations to surmount the challenges being encountered in implementing the scheme.”
