In its efforts at raising funds to be channeled towards uplifting the living conditions of the less privileged in the society, The Love Laugh Foundation would be hosting a star studded event, which will also attract several dignitaries who will be on ground to make their contributions at the Ceremonial Canopies Event Centre, Rimi Drive, Ungwar Rimi, Kaduna.
According to the founder of The Love Laugh Foundation, Kannywood actress, Nafisat Abdullahi, who spoke at a press conference in Kaduna, the need to cater for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), orphans and other less privileged people residing in slums and rural areas, gave rise to the staging of the show billed for Saturday.
According to the event planner, Maryam Bamalli, the present economic recession in the country has doubled the number of Nigerians in need of support.
“We have different forms of support. Some are not giving cash, but are rendering services. For example tailors have offered to sew clothes for the IDPs and orphans,” she said.
While responding to questions, co-founder of the foundation, Suleiman Mohammed explained that alongside the third co-founder Abdul M. Sheriff, they have already spent millions of Naira in putting the show together.
He explained that this was in spite of the 50 per cent reduction offered by the event planner and the caterer, the event is gulping more than anticipated.
“Right now we have been rehearsing for about 30 days. We are expecting top artistes from Lagos and other parts of the country. We are taking care of their expenses,” he said.
Suleiman disclosed that Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai is expected to lead several of his colleagues to the event.
Also expected, are royal fathers such as the Emir of Zazzau, Alh. Shehu Idris. Similarly, several members of the House of Representatives as well as captains of industries are also said to have promised to be there.
On the high cost of some of the category of tickets, like the VVIP which is being sold for N20, 000 and the VIP for N10,000, he explained that it was not too much for charity.
“We here in the north always cry out unnecessarily. In Lagos and other cities down south, they pay as much as N200,000 for table of four in some events that are not even meant to benefit charity. Besides, we also have tickets for N1,500 which is affordable to most people,” he added.
On security, he commended the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command for his assurance that officers and men would be deployed to the venue.
Also responding to questions, Mohammed Hamza popularly known as DJ Emzor who is offering his services for free, said that his newly improved self will be on display for the show.
It was reliably gathered that tickets for the event have gone on sale at Liberty Radio and Karamar FM. The can also be picked by calling 08033880577 and 07035555951.
