El-rufai can’t allocate housing estate by previous administrations, to build two 5-Star hotels, Mono-rail in Kaduna

Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufai cannot allocate the housing estates in Kaduna, Kafancahn and Zaria built by the previous administrations for civil servants in the state due to the dilapidated nature of the structures and the administration would construct two 5-Star hotels and light mono-rail in Kaduna utilisng the 2016 budget.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Hassan Mahmud disclosed this while briefing journalists on the proposed 2016 budget of his ministry.
Mahmud said if the houses were allocated to civil servants in its current dilapidated nature, the money the beneficiaries would spend to put the structures in order and make it habitable is more than enough for anyone to acquire a virgin land and construct new structures with more fortunes left to invest somewhere else.
The two 5-Star hotels he said would be located at the old Ministry of Art and Culture along Muhammadu Buhari Way (old Waff Road) after Hamdala Hotel, and the other is to be located along Rabah Road within same vicinity with the State Media Corporation (KSMC, Radio). The hotels are to be built utilizing Public Private Partnership (PPP) he stressed.
The Commissioner also revealed that aside the ring roads proposed to be constructed within the metropolis to decongest the city centre, free up traffic in the suburbs; the government also intends to embark on the construction of light monorail to operate from one end of the town within the metropolis to the other.
Mahmud also assured that the 9 killometre Kawo-Ahmadu Bello Way-Command Junction expansion project started by the administration of Muhktar Ramalan Yero would be completed. Bakin Ruwa- Hayi, Sign Board-Unguwan Dosa, NDA-Badarawa-Kwaru roads are also to be expanded to allow for easy flow of traffic he claimed. In addition to this, he said the current and only over head bridge in the state; the Kawo Bridge would be expanded to give room for more vehicles to ply it simultaneously as against the current two lanes.
To afford traders who now ply their trades by displaying wares by the road sides the opportunity to own stalls, Mahmud said the government would construct community markets in various parts. He also revealed that Governor El-rufai is reaching out to Local Governments Areas for them to also take charge of the roads and bridges under them and make sure they are made motorable.
The Commissioner who threw brickbats at the previous administration, raised several allegations but refused to entertain questions from Journalists just as he was shielded from doing so by Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Governor Nasir Ahmad El-rufai.
The Ministry is to get 32 billion naira for the 2016 appropriation.
