The Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti has expressed worry over rising cases of abandoned corpses in its morgue.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe who disclosed this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital said families of many of the corpses have refused to claim them for very long time.
He said such unclaimed bodies were fast becoming something else to the hospital and had occupied virtually all the few available space in the mortuary.
The statement warned that affected relations and families should come forward without delay to remove their corpses.
It however gave a one week ultimatum, within which such corpses must be removed to avoid impending mass burial.
Such mass burial, he said would help decongest the mortuary and allow for sanity in the environment.
