Ekiti Council Chairman Lightens Up Border Towns Against Kidnapping, Banditry

In an apparent moves to ensure that the people of Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ekiti are kept saved from the invasion of suspected kidnappers and bandits, the Council boss, Prince Michael Ogungbemi has said he has purchased and installed Solar street lights electricity at Iyemero, Ipao and Itapaji communities respectively to lighten up the border towns against insecurity,insurgencies.

Ogungbemi also inaugurated a block of four modern classrooms for students and fifty open stalls and five lock-up shops in Ayebode-Ekiti within  the LCDA

The projects commissioning,marks the one year anniversary of the creation of  “Ajoni  LCDA in Ekiti State,and was witnessed by the State Governor,Mr. Biodun Oyebanji and an International organization, “Build A School Initiative in Africa”, BASIA, which  constructed the blocks of classroom for the children at St. Stephen’s Primary School, Ayebode Ekiti.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Ajoni LCDA, Prince Michael Ogungbemi, said the management of the LCDA entered into a productive partnership with several foreign/international NGO’s, government agencies and private organization to complement the good work and development agenda of government to provide empowerment and ensure the bar of local governance is raised to meet expected development strides of the LCDA.

Ogungbemi,however used the occasion to appreciate Ekiti State Government for the unflinching support provided to the Local Council Development  Area.

Prince Ogungbemi further pledged his full determination to always put the Local Council first in his mind and always ensure that records of good things never ceases in the council during  his term in office, he also pledged the support of the Local council   towards achieving remarkable success for Governor Oyebanji’s administration.

Meanwhile, Dr. Victor Ukorebi, at the handover by  BASIA, noted that with the provision of the  classroom, is a deliberate effort to reduce the number of out-of-school children globally.

Ukorebi,said  its partners are working closely with Ekiti State to achieve all the 17 SDGs  goal by 2030, especially quality education.

In his speech, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, represented by his deputy, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye,told Ajoni LCDA of government efforts at stretching its hands of love towards the people of the area and encouraged them to ensure their support for the Chairman towards recording more meaningful success in the area.

Oyebanji,who described the LCDA Chairman as “a loyal, committed and trustworthy fellow who is reliable for the development of the area for the people.

The Governor also promised adequate funding of Local Governments,LG’s and Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, across  Ekiti State.

He said funding local governments is aimed at building the local economy,as well as improving the internally generated revenue, IGR, of the state.
