*State Commandant felicitates Muslims

No fewer than 2,515 personnel of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed for this year’s Eid El Kabir celebrations
The state NSCDC commandant, Augustine Padonu expressed this on Friday in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan
Commandant Padonu stressed that the deployed 2,515 personnel are to ensure security at security at the praying grounds, religious houses, national assets and infrastructure, road intersections, recreation centers, malls, motor parks and terminals, markets, and other public areas.
He maintained in the statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, DSC Samuel Opebiyi that the deployment was part of the proactive measures by the command to ensure the safety and security of the public before, during and after the Eid El Kabir commemoration
Commandant Padonu noted that he has also directed the Area Commands, Divisional Commands, as well as specialized departments and units such as the Operations Department, Disaster Management Unit, the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandalism Unit, Armed Squad, Special Female Squad and the Agro-Rangers to recognize the festival as a challenge and to intensify security efforts.
” In preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir Celebration, Commandant Augustine Padonu of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of the public before, during and after the commemoration. To this end, he has ordered the deployment of 2,515 highly trained personnel of the Corps across the state”, he said.
Stressing that the deployed personnel have been tasked with the critical responsibility of safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, a core mandate of the Corps, Commandant Padonu said ” Their duties also include protecting lives and property, managing crowd control, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and maintaining a visible security presence”.
While extending felicitations to Muslim faithfuls in Oyo state and a joyous Eid-el-Kabir Celebration, the Oyo NSCDC Commandant stated that the personnel will work in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a comprehensive security coverage.
He then tasked all residents of the State, as well as visitors, to celebrate with caution and remain vigilant of their surroundings. Any suspicious activity should be reported to NSCDC and other security agencies.
