The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji on Tuesday asked Muslims in Nigeria to consolidate on the gains of Ramadan by staying away from all appearances of evil.
Oba Adetunji who stated this in his Eid el Fitril message on this year’s end of Ramadan fasting declared that in doing this, there is the need for them to always seek God first and submit to His perfect will”
The royal father added that there are lessons for those who wish to learn from fasting and prayer, saying, “as soon as muslims are ready to seek God first and submit to His perfect will, God is always willing to answer prayers and solve problems”.
“Despite the socio-economic challenges confronting our people, such as liquidity crisis, corruption in high and low places, kidnapping etc, nothing is too difficult for God” he said.
Emphasizing that “to live is not a right but a privilege, Oba Adetunji prayed that all those that passed though this year’s fasting period with lack will soon enjoy abundance, saying, “the Sallah celebration this year is very symbolic in the sense that all Muslims are breaking their fast at one and the same time”, .
In thje same vein, the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ) in Oyo State congratulated Muslim faithful in the state and Nigeria in general for the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan, Hijira 1437.
The LVJ in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary Mr. Wale Adelowo while lauding Muslim faithful in Oyo state for keeping fate with the spirit of the Holy month, urged them to “continue to live in tandem with the teachings of the Holy Quran, even beyond Ramadan”.
While enjoining Nigerians to follow the tenet of the Holy month in their relationship with their fellow brothers and sisters beyond the time of Ramadan, the LVJ added that Nigerians are passing through a period of socio-economic rebirth which required sacrifice and perseverance, and that the present hardship may not necessarily be blamed on the present government as many things had gone wrong in the past without anybody looking for solution.
