Eid-el-Fitr: Oyo  FRSC  Deploys 1,700 Personnel

The Oyo State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps,(FRSC), Corps Commander, Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye on Friday, said the command has deployed 1,700 personnel for safe travel during and after the Eid –El Fitr.

Corps Commander Adekanye in a statement in Ibadan, declared that  the Oyo State FRSC Sector Command has mobilized adequate personnel and logistics for the Eid El Fitr period in and across the state.

He pointed out that the adequate personnel and logistics included the 1700 Officers/ Marshals and Special Marshals and 22 vehicles, two ambulances, tow truck and motor bikes.

Corps Commander, Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye maintained  that adequate personnel and logistics has been deployed to enhance the Corps visibility on major critical road corridors to ensure free flow of traffic, reduction in Road Traffic Crashes, Traffic Fatalities and Injuries.

The FRSC Sector Commander added that a 24 hour rescue team are on ground to respond promptly to road traffic crashes and victims and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways as the Command engages in purposeful public enlightenment.

He stressed further that the Command has engaged the haulage truck carrying passengers ” as a strategy to curtail the rising fatalities involving truck carrying passengers and mandated the personnel to apprehend vehicles that engages in carrying containers that are not latched, use of phone while driving, overloading, wrongful overtaking, right hand drive vehicles, non-use of seat belt, driving against traffic which in our local parlance is known as one way etc

Commending Oyo State Government and the various construction companies handling major road projects in the state for coming up with palliative works on our roads to ensure smooth free flow of traffic, he assured motorists that the Command is collaborating with other sister security agencies and organisation like the Nig, Police, NSCDC, FERMA, NEMA  etc to ensure safety on our roads as Road safety is a shared responsibility

While urging residents, visitors, motorist and the general public in Oyo state to exhibits high level of discipline on our roads during and after the Eid – El Fitr celebration, the Sector Commander admonished them to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and ensure maximum compliance with traffic laws and regulations and that they should exemplify the essence of the season which is for spiritual reflections and growth to help those in need, spend time with loved ones and obedience to established authorities.
