Supporters of former FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed in Bauchi under the auspices of Kaura Support Group have expressed worry over his continued incarceration by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The spokesperson of the supporters group, Alhaji Yusuf Rakis Mohammed told journalists in Bauchi Monday after the group meeting that the former Minister should have been taken to court 24 hours after his arrest just as it has been happening to other suspecting Nigerians.
“We want to express our grievances over the continued detention of the former FCT Minister by the EFCC, Senator Bala has zero tolerance on corruption as the on-going investigations will vindicates him”
The spokesman said they convened the meeting to show sympathy to their amiable leader, the ex-minster whose integrity and personality, the group said, should be respected.
Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed recalled that the Senator Bala Mohammed had diligently served the country for 8 years as a minister; hence he doesn’t deserve such treatment.
“When he was the FCT minister Bala embarked and completed many projects which have changed the face of FCT. He has also improved on the infrastructure of FCT which has never been equal by any past minister”.
Also speaking, a member of the group, Suleiman Mohammed Bello said, “We are sure that Bala will be vindicated and his travails is not unconnected to the good reputation of the former Minister eyeing the gubernatorial seat ahead of 2019”.
Bello explained that the group found it expedient to identify with the former minister in solidarity and respect, and urge his supporters to be law abiding citizens.
He urged the EFCC to treat the ex-minister’s matter with caution, and expressed support to President Buhari’s fight against corruption in the country.
