Education: FG told to reintroduce TTCs

The Federal Government has been advised to re-introduce Teacher Training Colleges to improve educational standard in the country.
An academic Dr. Sirajo Abukur noted this during the matriculation ceremony of NCE/B.ED student’s of Distance Learning Daura Center that Teachers Training Colleges have important role to play in the education sector and called on the authorities concern to expedite action on this move.
He said one of the causes of falling standard of Education was the abolishing of Teachers Training Colleges and advised Government to always conduct interview before recruitment of teachers.
In a paper he delivered on the importance of Holy Qur’an, Abukur charged the students to imbibe the reading of Holy Qur’an in their day to day activities.
Executive Chairman Katsina State Universal Basic Education, Alhaji Lawal Buhari Daura said Teachers College produced professional teachers and the state government has been making effort  to improve the education sector, and community participation in the education sector is inevitable, he emphasised.
He called on people to contribute their quota towards the development of the education sector.
About two hundred students were matriculated who would undergo NCE and degree programmes at the Daura centre.
