The gubernatorial election in Edo State is on-going peacefuly amidst tight security with a pocket of complaints here and there.
No fewer than 50,000 security personnel are taking part in the election.
So far, the election has been peaceful in all the voting centres across the state.
Reports from some voting centres in the three senatorial districts indicated that election materials arrived voting centres early with accreditation and voting starting at about 8:30am.
There has been no reported case of violence in any of the voting centres so far.
Turn out of voters is not very impressive against initial high expectations. The reason could be that voters are allowed under the new INEC rule to do accreditation and vote immediately.
Election is about rounding up in some voting centres by now.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu voted at about 9:55am in his Iguododo Ward IV in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
He expressed the confidence of winning the election and urged security agencies to ensure that there is no security breach during the election.
