Ijaw community in Edo state has endorsed the candidacy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
The community who made the endorsement during a courtesy visit to the campaign headquarters of Godwin Obaseki Campaign organisation was received by wife of the governorship candidate, Mrs. Betsy Godwin Obaseki.
The Ijaw group which was lead by Hon. Robert Okubo and Mr Olu Derimon Omaghomi expressed their joy in seeing their own daughter becoming the first lady of the state, saying it would be the first time in the history of the state for an Ijaw lady to be the first lady .
They further explained that with the pedigree of Mrs. Betsy Obaseki as a sound academic and the integrity and professional background of her husband, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, they have no doubt that Edo state would be taken to the next level .
Speaking during the visit, wife of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Betsy Godwin Obaseki enjoined her compatriots to vote APC in the forth coming September 10 governorship election.
She highlighted some benefits Godwin Obaseki has attracted to the state as the chairman of the state economic strategic team. She listed the establishment of the Azura power plant in Edo State as part of Godwin Obaseki’s achievement . She also stated that today Edo state is among the first five economically viable states in Nigeria, noting it was due to the contribution of her husband.
