The Edo State Governorship contest has been intriguing since 1999, but the 2024 election appears to be the simplest and most predictable. The three leading candidates are Monday Okpebholo (APC), Olumide Akpata (Labour Party), and Asue Ighodalo (PDP).
Monday Okpebholo is mute, unable to articulate his plans and vision for the state. His campaign is spearheaded by Senator Adams Oshiomole, making it seem like a surrogate governorship. His manifesto is a poorly doctored version of Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s 2020 manifesto, showing his unpreparedness for the office.
Olumide Akpata has nice jingles and dance steps but lacks policy and programmatic substance. He joined the Labour Party to ride the Obidient Movement’s momentum but has failed to present a clear vision for Edo State. His campaign focuses on criticizing the PDP and Governor Godwin Obaseki rather than presenting his own plans.
Asue Ighodalo (A.I) is the clear choice for Edo State. He presented his manifesto, “PROSPERITY FOR ALL,” first, articulating his vision, programs, and policies. He has consulted with Edolites worldwide, pledging to bring his experience and knowledge to take Edo State to a new level of progress and prosperity.
A.I has a boisterous CV and illustrious resume, having chaired Blue Chip Companies and a successful Bank. He knows how to raise funds to fulfill his promises without stressing the people. His campaign mantra, “ASUE/OGIE GO DO AM,” reflects his capability and credibility.
Edo Voters have made their choice, recognizing A.I as the most qualified, competent, capable, and credible candidate. His candidacy meets the quest for Justice, Equity, and Fairness in Edo State.
In conclusion, the choice for Edo State’s progress is simple: Asue Ighodalo. May God bless Edo State and grant the people the candor and competency to make the right choice on September 21, 2024.
