The Arewa Citizens Action for Change (ACAC), has issued a 10 days ultimatum to th Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), and the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), to rise up to the challenge and proffer solutions to the economic challenges facing the country.
A statement issued by Chairman ACAC, Sani Mahmud Darma, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna,  ‎noted that the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari emerged in the mist of multifarious challenges.
“These challenges are multi-national and multi-dimensional. The
government has enormous responsibilities to tackle these challenges, at least, to justify the support of the public especially the lower segment of the population,” it stressed.
It added that the expectations of Nigerians and indeed the global world remain high on the government.
Meanwhile, the group said, “We commend the Buhari’s administration for its determination in curbing the Boko Haram menace and its relentless efforts to overhaul security challenges confronting the country as a whole.
“It is worthy to specially commend the Nigerian Army under General Tukur Yusuf Burutai for exhibiting professionalism and abiding by the rules of engagement in that regard” it said.
The group however stressed that “This deteriorating predicament of our economy and the body polity raises serious doubt on the credibility of all those that matters in the North. The Northern elders and elites are silence on this
devastating situation of the economy.
“We acknowledged and inspired by the courage, boldness and patriotism of HRH Muhammadu Sunusi II,  the Emir of Kano; Prof. Ango Abdullahi, Wantaragh Paul Unongo  and Alh Attahiru Bafarawa, for their uprightness in telling the President the truth regardless of any sentiment or inclination.
“These voices are not enough. We are calling on all other northerners individually or in group to emulate the resilience of these few patriots in unraveling the truth to the President and the present leadership at all levels.
“We give 10 days Ultimatum to the Northern Elders Forum and the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to raise to the occasion to deliberate on how to salvage the Country from the present political and economic challenges facing by Nigerians.
“The activities of the Niger Delta Avenger is causing more damage to our Country than good. We believe in the rule of law. The government has to do everything lawful to curtail the nonsense. The government has to apply the hot and cold approach in addressing the activities of these groups.
“The activities of the Avengers has being drastically affecting the fortunes of our economy and the cooperate existence of Nigeria as a nation. As we pray for the success of President Buhari’s administration, we would no longer fold our arms while things continue to unfold in abnormal shape.”
