Ebonyi Govt Empowers 3,480 Citizens, Swears-in Council Chairmen

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has flagged off the empowerment of 3,480 Ebonyians with the sum of N300,000 each.

He has also sworn-in the newly elected council chairmen of the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.

Also sworn-in by the governor, were  11 members of Local Government Advisory Committee and four Senior Special Assistants.

According to the chairman of Ebonyi State Empowerment Programme, who is also the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Eric Kelechi Igwe, a total of 2.6 billion Naira  has been mapped out for the empowerment of 3,480 Ebonyians.

He further noted that the money mapped out is part of the ENDSARS empowerment fund adding that the empowerment is categorized under the following: FADAMA, MSME, Public Works etc.

Earlier, they new chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area, Hon. Ajah Chinonso appreciated Governor David Umahi for laying a solid foundation for the overwhelming development taking place across the state, saying that he will do everything possible to justify the confidence reposed on him.

Responding, the Governor David Umahi said that the empowerment of 3,480 Ebonyians with N300,000 each is fulfilment of a campaign promise made in 2019.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the conditional cash transfer given to alleviate poverty in Ebonyi State.

He also stated that as part of his programmes and policies to reduce unemployment in Nigeria, many Ebonyians were recruited into David Nweze Umahi University of Medical Sciences while the ongoing International airport shall be recruiting more as soon as the are completed.

The event was attended by executive council members, party stalwarts,religious groups, traditional rulers, national assembly members, stakeholders including Hon. Uzor Tochukwu, among others.
