Dwindling income: civil servant salary remains our priority – KDSG

As a result of the dwindling revenue accruing to the statem especially from the federal allocation, Kaduna State Government said henceforth the monthly salary of the civil servants remains a priority before any other project.
The State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Mahammed Sani Abdulahi disclosed this during a brief with Journalists after the State Executive Council meeting presided by Governor NAsir Ahmad El-Rufai.
Abdulahi said the last allocation to the state from the federation account was 2.8 asa against 7.7 billion naira received in July 2015 while the state monthly salary bill stands at 2.5 billion naira leaving the state with a balance of 300 million naira for other expences.
He said as a result, overhead cost would be reduced further down until there is improvement in the income of the state.
The Commissioner however reiterated that Education, Health and Works would be prioritized and remains next to civil servants salaries to which remains of incomes would be channeled.
He however allayed the fears of the public by revealing that “We have set up a stabilization fund with a take off of nothing less than two billion naira tto ensure that atime when the entire nation is facing deep crisis in revenue, Kaduna State would be able to handle its responsibilities”.
