An Operative of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS), Bauchi State Command Headquarters, Moses Benjamin was last Wednesday reportedly killed in a ghastly motor accident along Vom-Jos road in Plateau State.
Benjamin was said to have been driving from Kaduna back to Bauchi during which he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road into the bush around Vom, in Plateau State resulting to his death instantly.
Late Benjamin was until his death attached to the Wife of Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar as one of her security details.
A source close to the Governor’s wife who spoke on condition of anonymity told New Nigerian that the deceased travelled to Kaduna to pick his car when the unfortunate incident happened.
“He left Bauchi to Kaduna to see his family because Her Excellency wasn’t in the country. When he learnt that she was back to the country and was in Abuja, he immediately went to meet her there leaving his car in Kaduna”, source said.
The source added that “the most unfortunate thing is the fact that he bought the car he was driving barely two months ago and was not yet a professional in driving. He still had an “L” on the car. The First Lady was shocked to have heard of his death”.
Efforts to get spokesman of the service to confirm the incident proved abortive, but a top security source of the security service who confirmed the incident said he didn’t have full details.
“Yes, it is true that we lost one of our men but I don’t have the full details of what happened. I wasn’t in this morning’s briefing because I just came back from Abuja”, the source stated.
