No fewer than 26 petrol stations have been sealed by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Ibadan Office for hoarding and price violation.

DPR Head of Operations for Ibadan office, Mr Sadiq Danjuma Ibrahim, made this known  while speaking with newsmen during the routine operation of the organization to check the level of compliance of fuel dealers in Ibadan.

He insisted that government has not increased fuel price  and that DPR  “cannot allow marketer to be increasing the price arbitarily”.
.
The DPR Head of Operations while cautioning ‘recalcitrants filling station  owners to desist from violating the laid down rules of operation” vowed that erring filling stations can be reasealed if they fail to comply .

“We are taking more drastic measure against erring filling stations, we are not only going to seal their stations,  we will also sanction them, preventing them from operation for a period of three to six months and have their operation licence revoked.” he said.

Speaking further, Mr Danjuma lamented that it was unfortunate that marketers always network among themselves to evade sanction whenever the operatives of DPR are out for monitoring .

He stressed that other areas in Oyo and Osun states will be covered in few weeks as the Tuesday’s ” operation is limited to Ibadan town and Oyo” , saying, .”we are still going to other places. we have visited them before and we will surely revisit them and make sure the erring stations comply’.

During the DPR monitoring, motorists and motorcyclists at Olomi area of Ibadan while speaking with newsmen  lauded  DPR for their efforts and urged them not to relent in their bid to make the fuel dealers comply with N145. per litre .
