Don’t Attack Herdsmen, Gani Adams Warns OPC

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland , Aare Gani Adams on Wednesday warned members of the Odua Peoples Congress  (OPC) against attacking herdsmen in their areas of jurisdiction.

Aare Gani Adams handed down the warning  while speaking at the annual Leadership training retreat organized by Oodua Progressives Congress in Ibadan,

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland while stressing that the herdsmen on their part should not
take the accommodating nature of the Yoruba people for granted asked the OPC members to rather resist any attempt “to destroy  farmland or kill our people”

“Strangers have right to do business in any part of the country, but using their own business to destroy our own economy and life is what we will not tolerate”.he said.

Aare Gani Adams then urged the OPC members to stay away from act capable of threatening peace in their area by maintaining peace and ensure safety and progress of Yorubaland , saying, ” please avoid any form of violence, let us continue to promote peace and tranquility and progress of Yoruba land. “

Speaking further, the Aare Ona Kakanfo said he is not reafy to keep silence in the face of tyranny and underdevelopment of Yoruba land, saying the time has come for those he called detractors of the Yoruba race to stop causing division and crisis in Yorubaland.

According to him,  Yorubaland deserved to be far better than its present state, adding that “we are rich, Lagos – Ibadan express road should not be taking this long before completion .

Oyo state coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, Comrade Rotimi Olumo, in his  address  said the lecture ” is to update the knowledge of members on the important of leadership in the society and how to move the group forward .

The guest lecturer , Dr .Biola Ayankunbi n his lecture entitled , Leadership and Teamwork said every member of organization must work in tandem with the focus and effort of those saddles with leadership position so as to achieve meaningful development and progress.

Other speakers at the event included, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre, Associate Editor Nigerian Tribune, Prince Segun Akannni Olalekan, Chief of Staff to Aare Ona Kakanfo, Mr Samson Otegbola , Special Adviser to Aare Adams on Special duties.
