Dokaji Farms Win Kaduna Polo Trade Fair Tourney, President Says Club Going Higher

Dokaji Farms have emerged winners of the 2022 Kaduna Polo Club Trade Fair Tournament, which ended on Sunday March 6, 2022 at the Ahmadu Yakubu House.
They won the most prestigious trophy of the tournament, Asokoro Island Cup, with Profile 1 Team finishing as runners-up.

In the Sublime Cup, donors, Sublime Polo Team emerged winners, with Profile 2 finishing as runners-up.
For the  NIMASA Cup, YBL Team finished as winners, while   RYB Team were runners-up.

In an interview with newsmen on the sidelines, President of Kaduna Polo Club, Suleiman Abubakar was excited by the successes recorded.
 “Kaduna Polo Club is going higher, the turn out exceeded our expectations. The next big thing to look forward to is our International tournament,” he said.
On news that more teams are vying for Africa’s most prestigious polo trophy the Georgian Cup, he said it is a welcome development.
“I am glad to hear that new comers are interested in the Georgian Cup, they always say they will come to dethrone, let’s see how it goes,” he said.
Ahead of the Kaduna International Polo Tournament billed for October later in the year, he assured that the club’s management is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring it is successful.
“We are continuously working to improve on the pitch,” he stressed.
Commissioner of Sports Kaduna State, Mr. Idris Nyam who also spoke to sports writers,  thanked the polo club for supporting in hosting the trade fair tournament.
“We work in tandem with the club in developing tourism and sports. It helps to showcase Kaduna and the urban renewal by His Excellency, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, ably supported by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe in transforming the state.
“You saw that throughout the tournament, the youth were excited. They are encouraging youth to embrace the game, which is a welcome development,” he said.
He assured that the state government will keep supporting the club.
“We’ve talked about sports, already, the state govt is partnering the polo club, we have just renovated this complex, anything to do with horse racing, is tourism and the state government will always support in view of its economic potentials,” he declared.
While fielding questions, Chairman Nigerian Army Polo Association, Major General Mohammed Sani  Aliyu said that  it was gladdening to see that the game of polo is growing. 
“You can see the last match was very exciting, we watched the teams play without any foreign player, it’s what we look forward to,” he added.
