The Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai has said that the Depot Nigerian Army has remained pivotal in sustaining the growth and development of the Nigerian Army towards fulfilling the task of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
He stated this at the 76 Regular Recruit Intake Passing Out Parade held at the Chindit Cantonment Army Barracks Zaria.
Represented by the Chief of Army Administration, Gen Ibrahim Mohammed Alkali, he said that the ceremony is aptly coming at a time when Nigerian is confronted with a myriad of asymmetric security challenges.
He said, Depot NA has continued to evolve its training activities in line with his vision of having a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.
According to him, over 6,000 recruits who pass out today will boost the manpower of the Nigerian Army with competent and combat ready young soldiers.
The Army boss maintained that his humble submissions that realistic training is the best means of preparing Nigerian Army performed towards achieving its role as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.
“I hereby, stated unequivocally that Deport NA has improved on every aspect of realistic result oriented training”.
“The improved standard across the entire crops and formations in the Nigeria Army is yielding positive results as evident in the robust fighting spirit exhibited by our troops in the North East.
General Buratai noted that Depot Nigerian Army remains distinguished among its contemporaries within and outside the country and the institution is very dear to my heart and will continue to receive the needed logistics to sustain its activities.
The joint military training exercise conducted at Falgore forest with student officers and soldiers or NASI and WOA has further exposed the 76 regular recruits intake to counter terrorist and counter insurgency operations as well as giving the recruits opportunity to operate in terrain similar to epicenter.
The Chief of Army Staff said, he considers it necessary to remind the recruits about their Oath of Allegiance that was administered to them and to state that they should henceforth subject to both Civil and Military laws, and they should avoid any act that can tarnish the image of the Nigeria Army and the nation at large.
During the ceremony, the Chief of Army state Lt. Gen. Buratai has commissioned many projects at the depot NA and the Nigerian Military school.
